Upcoming 25th Anniversary

It doesn't seem like Tammy and I have been married 25 years. So our upcoming 25th at the end of October is a big event. It is deserving of a worthy celebration, which most people think in terms of travel to some wonderful destination where you can see new things and explore the world. I've thought about it for a long time. And I have considered many options.

My first thoughts were something special, overseas and international. Ah, Italy or France. We've never bothered to get passports! So with time running short we'd be happy to go somewhere in the good old US of A. But where?

New York and New England? Las Vegas? San Francisco? Wish I had a teleporter! I don't like the idea of today's travel via airplane, renting cars, etc. to get around. Paying for extra suit cases is not my idea of fun. Having to work to find your way around and schedule activities does not seem relaxing.

If I stop to think about why I feel this way I kinda think part of it is from medications for my heart that have a strong tendency to drop your metabolism and enthusiasm. Now it is a struggle to get out of bed in the morning. But I also have passed 60 and wonder if that is some of it, too? My objective, overall, has to loose my added weight and hopefully get off diabetes and heart medicines so I'd feel more energized but that has been hard to accomplish, so far.

So it is perplexing. It is taking some thought. I am working on it. Suggestions?

Reappreciation

Over a year after Hurricane Ike and we finally sent in receipts for our contents that were ruined. TWIA (Texas Wind Insurance Assoc) calls this reappreciation based on lost contents that we struggled to list and send in for approval last year. They depreciated each item and allowed an amount for repurchase, which you have to do with your own money. We hardly purchased any of the hundreds of lines of items, but we did buy furniture and some things. They did allow us to supplement for ten or so items we forgot to list, which was nice.

In all of this I can honestly say Tammy and I were ready to just get it done and over with. So much paperwork. TWIA says this will be the last check, which is fine with us. The way it has all worked out we are very happy with our new home and contents which makes the word reappreciation mean something to us besides restored value. We are just very appreciative of our home and what God has blessed us with.

Labor Day Visit

Tim, Angela, and Grant came by for a Labor Day visit on Friday and Saturday. We had a relaxing day Saturday and ate at Don Pico's mexican restaurant, followed by a movie, Gran Torino, at home. This was the first time for company in our remodeled house. Jordan stopped by with the pups as shown in the pictures.
