Beginning the Repair

Mitigation of the house has completed and repair has now commenced. Flooring upstairs is being patched to replace the wet swelled wood that had to be removed. Soon new dry wall (sheetrock) will be installed to the ceilings and walls, floated and taped ready for paint. It is like building a new house, but with more choices than at our beginning in 1993. The insurance funds are finally partially in the bank, and being distributed to our remodeler for possible completion of the work in April by subcontractors. Once the house is ready for occupancy we still have weeks of preparation while we transfer our contents from our rent house and purchase new furniture, appliances, and things we still need. While the schedule of making choices and bringing everything together is daunting and time consuming, we look forward to a new beginning when everything is finished and we once again have a home.
