We spent July 3-6 flying to Portland and meeting Adam after he moved there three months ago. From Portland we drove out to Multnomah Falls to view the nation's tallest waterfall, and then on to Eugene where we got to see Adam's apartment, found our studio cottage where we stayed, and then went to eat Sushi at a popular restaurant before dropping Adam and retiring.
On the 4th we drove into downtown Eugene and ate brunch at the Off The Waffle restaurant, getting bubble tea around the corner, then out to Spencer's Butte to climb to the top. Of the two trail heads from the parking lot we decided to try the difficult shorter trail. It was tough with a steep grade and lots of rocks and obstacles, but we managed to make the climb .... and it was worth it! Great view. Later we managed to recover as Adam walked over, we got a pizza delivered, and we viewed fireworks from one side of the park after finding a parking lot nearby.
The 5th was our day to drive to the coast. We got breakfast at Theo's Coffee Shop and drove to Florence on the coast, and then up to Heceta Head Lighthouse and beach. We walked the trail up to the lighthouse for some nice views, then back to Florence where we ate at the Bridgewater Fish House before returning back to Eugene. We spent the rest of the evening visiting before packing for our return flight on Friday the 6th.
Great trip, great visit, and beautiful state Adam chose to live and work in. Pictures and Video. VIDEO
