Video Archive
A while back I lost two (or three) external 'book' high capacity hard drives where video of events were stored. These 'clips' were assembled video and pictures of family and friends in moments of our lives that told a story going back to 2000 or so. It was very disappointing to have lost all that work and time involved in the productions.
Fortunately I still had CD and Blue Ray disks with archived content that had menu structure for video since around 2000. And I had hard drive photo archives, some with video. Some of these disks were not readable, however, even by my best reliable disk drives since the dye used in making all CD-R recordable disks has a deterioration that makes them unreadable after many years - a shelf life. So I am reproducing the recovered video, some at a reduced quality, and storing all the content on hard drives. In time I will have the content for each year that I can render into a new blue ray album for each year.
This recovery process is very slow as I have to first section out the video for a date and render it into a new video blue ray high quality version (you cannot make a video better, but at least more compatible with the process) and combine it with the high quality photos for each date or event. There are a ton of these videos and pictures for each years' birthdays, concerts, marching band, football, graduations, reunions, family and church gatherings, and just happenings in everyday life that includes hobbies and children at play. Videoing and photography have been a passion my entire life going back to super 8 video in the 70's and Kodak and Polaroid photography even before that. But the high content started with my children as I recorded events in their lives, and a growing extended family.
One nice thing is that I have YouTube channels and this blog has links to albums of pictures with some video, and a VIDEO link provides access to the unlisted videos of photos and video clips that plays like a slide show. The links are not able to be followed by bots, etc., to safeguard privacy.
I would even like to combine the old super 8 video (without sound) and pictures into videos for each event and occasion for each year. I have the video digitized already, and I have scanned photos into digitized format, too. Too bad there were so few pictures and video back then, but then even the quality was pretty low. This was true up until nearly 2000. So I am working backwards from the present and approaching 2000, skipping many things that were photographed and videoed that I will go back and include later. So much pet and hobby photography!
If you are so inclined you want to view some then have fun! And if you want to see some of my silly production clips take a look here.
